4th August 2008

The summer Dressage League continued at Danescroft last Saturday 2nd August. All riders who had not yet qualified for the finals on the 30th August and the National Championships to be held at Necarne in September, strived towards gaining 62% under the ever watchful eyes of the Judges.

Large Preliminary classes kept Harold Bunting, David Paterson and Lyndsey Craig busy throughout the day and helpers from Northern Ireland Dressage encouraged all the new faces out competing in the unregistered sections.

Emma Jackson on her two rides Rockrimmon Rob Roy and Homegrown Lexie came 1st and 2nd in Prelim 12 and 2nd and 3rd in Prelim 13.

The talented show Champion turned Dressage Diva “Whats What” ridden by Yvette Truesdale owned by June and Jim Burgess excelled in the novice class and Kelly Troughton’s pretty mare Dolce Vita came close behind in 2nd with Clare Sedgeman and Victoria Henderson tying in 3rd place.

Not to be beaten in the Novice class 30, Emma Jackson on her on Rockrimmon Grand Finale took another win followed closely by Claire Sedgeman and Questhill Fantasy and Lyndsey Pritchard riding Dutch Bred Kemella Clover King.

Elementary 53 was closely judged by Lucy Adams, but it was Kelly Troughton on Trekhaner Stallion Masurenfuerst whos extra 3 marks secured the 1st place ahead of Sylvia Henry on Warrior King, 3rd place was shared by Alison Kirkpatrick riding The Flying Dutchman who have returned after a six month break from competing and the talented Da Capo Two ridden by Elaine Ham. But Elaine as determined as ever rode a very accurate Elementry 50 test in front of Janet Hall to claim her win of the  day.  Yvette and Whats What  had to settle with 2nd place on this occasion and Kelly Troughton and Dolce Vita in 3rd.

Lynne McCormick’s Dutch bred Grey Gelding previously owned by Carl Hester showed grace and style to win both Medium 73 and Advanced Medium 98. Lynne continued her successful day with her Chestnut horse Transberg’s  Chilli by taking the top spot in Medium 71 and 2nd place behind Uneek in Medium 73. Barbara Ellison and Felina slipped into 3rd place but 2nd and 3rd places in Medium 71 were well earned by Bishopmills ridden by Sylvia Henry and Pastiche ridden by Kelly Troughton.

Jay Dancer and Barbara Ellison were the only competitor in Advanced Medium 94 but came a close 2nd in Advanced Medium 98 and the open class with Sylvia Henry on her Stallion Obelix 111 being the worthy winner of the class riding a Prix St George Test.

Fortunatley the dry weather  help all the horses and riders to make another dressage day enjoyable for all. NID will be back at Danescroft on August 16th for more info please contact the website.
